Group Rides
Whether you ride for competition, fitness or just getting started, KCV Group Rides are a great way to meet others and hone your cycling skills. And we’re happy to provide numerous opportunities for roadies, mountain bikers and casual cruisers.
Group rides also help raise awareness for cycling and introduce others to the sport. We’re always looking for cyclists that can be Ride Leaders or want to start a new ride. Contact us if you currently have a ride you’re already doing or would like to start another ride.
Here’s a glimpse at our current schedule…
Road Rides
The Open Road Ride:
- Tuesday evening, 6pm
- All skill levels welcome
- 15-25 miles
- Start from Trailhouse
- Mid-Spring through mid-Fall
Ride Description: If you are looking for a fun group ride with other cycling enthusiasts, come join the Tuesday night ride. This road bike ride is for all levels and will vary in distance and routes. The group may split, but ride leaders will ensure the “no-drop” policy. All skill levels are welcome.
Tuesday Worlds Training Ride:
- Tuesday evenings, 6:15pm
- Advanced skill level
- 25-40+ miles
- Start from Trailhouse
- Late winter through Fall
Ride Description: This road bike training ride is for advanced riders and skills. The group will maintain average speeds of 22+ miles per hour on different routes and distances throughout Kosciusko County. If you want to increase your road riding skills and get faster, this is the ride for you. This is a high intensity training ride and slower riders will get dropped.
Mountain Bike Rides
Beginner MTB Trail Ride:
- Sunday afternoon, 2pm
- All skill levels welcome
- 5-10 miles
- Starts from Trailhouse
- Early spring through mid-Fall except Sundays when a Time Trial is scheduled
Ride Description: New to the Winona Lake Trails? Want to enjoy them even more? Just looking for a casual-paced trail ride? Come join us for a beginner level ride to learn the trail, which direction to ride, which sections are easy and which are hard. Everyone is welcome. You must wear a helmet and bring a trail-ready mountain bike. Rentals for both are available at the Trailhouse.
Fast Wednesday Trail Ride
- Wednesday evening, 6pm
- Intermediate skill level
- 8+ miles
- Starts from Trailhouse
- Early Spring through October
Ride Description: This ride is for cyclists who want a fast paced mountain bike group ride through the trails of Winona Lake. If you are looking to improve your riding ability, get “faster”, and push yourself more than you do when you ride alone, Wednesday night is right for you. A helmet is mandatory for all trail riding.
“Friday Night Lights” Trail Night Ride
- First and third Friday night, dusk (between 8 – 8:30pm)
- All skill levels welcome
- 7-9 miles
- Meet at Trailhead parking lot
- Mid-spring through mid-Fall
Ride Description: For a completely different riding experience, try riding the trails at night! You will need a light for your bike and one for your helmet is helpful (a helmet is mandatory). There will be leaders for different skill levels and you won’t be left on the trail!
Casual Cruising Rides
First Friday Family Fun Ride
- First Friday evenings, 6pm
- All skill levels welcome
- Approx 2.5 miles (from The Village at Winona to downtown Warsaw)
- Start from Trailhouse
- May through October (weather permitting)
Ride Description: This is a social ride great for kids of all ages. Been riding forever or just got a bike, this ride is a great opportunity to meet other riders and have some fun as we just cruise at an extremely casual pace from Trailhouse in the Village at Winona to downtown Warsaw for First Friday festivities.
