October Events Update
Much like September, October is going to be a busy-fun month for cycling. Take a look…
October 1 – GBIM Day of Generosity Ride – starts at 8am (Trailhouse)
THIS IS A RESCHEDULE DATE FROM SEPT. 24
Great opportunity to ride your bike and raise awareness for missionaries who ride hundreds of miles per week into many remote locations to help people. 20 and 50 mile routes to choose from.
October 8 – Fat & Flat Hash Ride & Run hosted by Cerulean Restaurant – starts at 2pm
Round 2: Fat & Flat Hash Ride and Run hosted by our friends at Cerulean Restaurant, October 8 in the Beer Garden. One great day of riding and running to make room for homemade brats and craft brews, all to benefit our awesome hometown trails. Love what Cerulean is doing to partner with us and our community. Come out and show your support and enjoy the great food, brews and live music as a thank you! 10K course will be set up and participants can ride and run as much as they’d like. The Garden will start serving at 3pm. On-site registration starts at 1pm.
October 15 – KCV Annual Short Track TT & Poker Run – starts at 1pm (Winona Lake Trails)
Mmmmm. You can smell the BBQ already for the Annual KCV Mountain Bike Poker Run. We’ll carry on the KCV riding season’s year-end tradition with a Short Track Time Trial at 1:30pm and the Poker Run beginning at approximately 2:30pm. Join us for this totally chill, family-friendly, hang out event, that features a surprise course (that’s right, no one knows the course until they start) of no more than 3 miles, great food and time with friends to say thank you for a great year, that always ends up being one of the best memories of the riding season. Registration for the Short Track Time Trial will begin at 1pm. We will start in the little meadow next to the Greenway and the house back in the trails. Bring a dish to share or $10 donation, your favorite beverage (although we’ll have some Mad Brew on tap of course), your bike, your family and friends and your best poker face. Some great prizes will be awarded for the top poker hands.
October 22 – Nocturnal II: Military Edition – Ride.Run.Ridiculous Challenge – starts at 4pm
Three events. Two great causes. One tough day. Want a challenge that represents something? Willing to tough it out for someone else? Start during the day. End in the dark. Choose from a mountain bike race, a 5K evening Trail Run, or the Ridiculous Obstacle Challenge Race, or be a real Nocturnal Warrior and complete all three. Your true grit will not go unnoticed. Great food, bonfires and prizes await, plus a post-event parade with a purpose, giving you the chance to be a part of something amazing.
Whatever you choose, October is going to be another great month for cycling activities in our community. Enjoy!
